The Symphonic Winds and Symphonic Band recently performed at the 2010 District 13 Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE). BOTH groups received all "Superior" ratings and congratulatory reviews from the adjudicators! We are very proud of their fine achievements. The five concert ensembles at NGHS are the primary focus of our overall band program. All of these groups meet during one period each day; in addition, some ensembles perform in formal concerts in the NGHS Theater throughout the year.

Check it out! The NGHS Symphonic Band presented a unique project in collaboration with the Photography students of Mr. Jack Foreman. During our 2009 Spring Concert, the Symphonic Band performed a piece entitled "Dreams and Proclamations". A student-made video was projected behind the ensemble during this multimedia showcase; it featured photographs of the musicians that were created through a process called "light painting" (Read here for more information on this technique: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_painting).
